JOY is a powerful force for connection and resilience.
This year's regional open call invited small works that transmit or respond to joy through color, form, humor, process and subject matter. Experimental work was encouraged.
JOY might be found in celebration, acceptance or sustainable growth; interpersonal and interspecies connection, the ordinary or the extraordinary, togetherness and solitude; embracing the known and the unknown, the highly personal and the universal... We asked artists to look at their work through this lens and see what stood out to them.
At this challenging moment of global and planetary trouble, we invite you to lean into the strength found in our individual sources of joy, and to gather with us at the community space we care for together.
