Vance Gilbert burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 90's and there was no looking back after Shawn Colvin invited him to be a special guest on her Fat City tour. Somerville Live (2000) was lionized by the Boston Globe as the CD "young songwriters should study the way law students cram for bar exams." His newest CD, Up On Rockfield, is a collection of songs as Gilbert imagines some of his greatest heroes, such as Van Morrison, Tom Waits and John Hiatt might have written them.
