Darius Beckford is a jazz pianist and composer from New York. He’s currently a senior with a major in Jazz and a minor in film, and he teaches at the New Windsor Music Academy. He plays all over the Hudson Valley area with various different jazz, neo soul, funk, and rock bands. Along with this, composes his own music that combines jazz with various electronic styles like, nu jazz, futurebass, and chiptune. He started playing classical piano when he was 6 where he instantly fell in love with the instrument as well as anything and everything related to music. When he switched from classical to jazz, his major influences were and still are Hiromi, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock. After graduating, he will continue performing and composing, while exploring some independent ethnomusicological studies for his compositions.
